25th REUNION RECAP - June 27-29, 2008

Friday, June 27
6 p.m. to 10 p.m. - A night with the Eagles at the Royals
After the 80 to 100 mile-per-hour winds died down, many trees fell down, and one-third of the city was left without electricity, we had our hopes dashed and our party at Rosenblatt cancelled.  We moved to Sullivan's earlier than expected, but although Vonda and Melissa went in search of food, they could find none.  Most grocery stores in the area were closed and those that were open had limited fare.  But Kurt Pyle saved the day by heading west, where the city was hit less hard, if at all, and found food and brought it back to Sullivan's.  Much to Melissa's delight, Oreo cookies were included.  Kurt must have been around a pregnant woman or two in his day.  Thank you, Kurt!  Thanks to Dan Houlihan for being so accommodating at Sullivan's and to everyone in attendance for being so flexible and good-natured about the whole messy night.

10 p.m. to 1 a.m. - Post-Royals gathering at Sullivan's Bar (3926 Farnam).  Earlier than, but just as enjoyable as, expected.
Saturday, June 28
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Tour and Lunch at Central High School
After a late pizza lunch due to the storm aftermath and a speech by the principal, we all set out to tour the old digs.  It's weird walking up to the cafeteria floor and finding walls and rooms instead of the open space.  How much time did they give us to get to class?  That place is huge!

7 p.m. to 11 p.m. - Heeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Johnny's
A slight panic ensued after not hearing from Johnny's whether they were OK after the storm.  We learned late in the afternoon that all was well, and we carried on with an evening of cocktails, chatting, dinner, door prizes, who was who in the 'most likely to" categories of yore, and dancing...oh, and who could forget the Karaoke?
